If you feel the ANC effect on your Q31i is not as expected, it is usually related to the wearing fit, the mode setting, the microphone being blocked, or the noise environment. Most cases can be resolved by following the steps below.
Before You Start: Please make sure the headphone is powered on and connected to a device.
Troubleshooting Steps:
-
Wearing fit check: The noise cancellation effect depends heavily on the wearing fit—for example, if the ear cushions do not fully cover your ears or leave gaps around the edges, outside noise will enter and reduce the ANC effect. Adjust the headphone to a comfortable position and make sure the ear cushions fully cover your ears with no gaps or sound leakage.
-
Mode confirmation: Open the soundcore app, confirm that you are currently in ANC mode, and check whether the ANC level is set to a suitable level.
-
Clean the headphone microphone: Do not block the ANC microphone on the outside of the ear cushions. Make sure no dust or debris is blocking the microphone openings. If needed, clean it with a soft dry cloth or Blu-Tack—avoid liquid cleaners.
-
Test in a different noise environment: ANC is most effective against low-frequency noise (such as airplane cabin noise, train sounds, and air conditioner hum), and relatively limited against mid-to-high frequency sounds (such as people talking, alarms, or horns). In very quiet environments, the ANC effect may also feel less noticeable. Try testing the headphone in different noise environments to better understand how ANC performs in your situation.
Check Feedback / Squealing Issues
A brief squealing sound may occur when the microphone and speaker form a cavity inside the ear cup. This is often related to the fit, or point to blocked microphone openings. We recommend checking whether the microphone and vent holes are obstructed.
