Call issues usually trace back to which earbud is picking up your voice or how strong the Bluetooth connection is at that moment — this article covers both, plus setting up the voice assistant and ringtone.
If the Other Person Can't Hear You Clearly
1. If you're using just one earbud, make sure the other one is sitting in the closed case rather than out and idle — an earbud you're not using can still interfere with the mic.
2. Check the L / R marks on the earbuds to confirm they're seated correctly and sealed — a loose fit affects how well the microphone picks up your voice, the same way it affects noise cancellation.
3. Confirm your phone or computer has "Anker Liberty Buds 2" selected for call audio specifically, not just for music — some devices treat these as separate settings.
4. If the issue is inconsistent, try switching to your phone's built-in microphone mid-call and back to the earbud mic — this helps you tell whether the problem is with the earbud mic or something else on the call.
If the Other Person's Voice Cuts In and Out
This points to the Bluetooth connection itself rather than the microphone, since it affects what you're hearing, not what you're sending.
1. If you're using one earbud, make sure the other is in the closed case.
2. Move your phone or device physically closer to reduce the distance the signal has to travel.
3. If it still happens, try a different app for the call, or test with a regular phone call instead — this narrows down whether the issue is the call app or the connection itself.
Setting Up the Voice Assistant
Touch controls aren't assigned to the voice assistant by default, so you'll need to set this up once. In the app, go to Controls and select your phone's voice assistant. You can assign a double press, triple press, or long press. A single tap cannot be assigned to the voice assistant.
If the Ringtone Doesn't Play Through the Earbuds
This depends on a setting on your phone rather than the earbuds, since the earbuds themselves do support ringtone playback.
1. On Android, go to Bluetooth settings, tap the settings icon next to the earbuds, and enable Ringtone Sync (sometimes labeled Incoming Call Ringtone).
2. On iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth, select the earbuds, and enable Audio Sharing / Incoming Calls with output set to the earbuds.
3. Check that your phone isn't set to silent, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb, since these can mute the ringtone at the source before it ever reaches the earbuds.
