When ANC is enabled, some users may notice a faint background noise or continuous humming sound. This is related to how ANC works — the system actively processes surrounding sounds, and in some cases this processing can produce a low-level residual noise. The effect varies depending on ear-cup fit, head shape, and the surrounding environment. Users with more sensitive hearing may notice this more easily.
Things to try first
Adjust the fit. Make sure the ear cushions sit evenly and seal closely against your head. A loose seal can cause a humming sound, especially in low-frequency environments.
Remove the headphones and check whether the sound is coming from the environment itself. ANC cannot completely eliminate all noise sources — it works by combining active and passive noise cancellation to reduce noise levels, not remove them entirely.
If the issue persists
We have a dedicated firmware update available that addresses it.
To receive the firmware, please contact us directly through the soundcore App:
-
Open the soundcore App.
-
Tap the gear icon ⚙️ in the top right corner of your headphone's device page.
-
Note down your serial number (SN) from the Settings page, then tap Help & Feedback.
-
Describe your issue, provide your SN, and mention that you are experiencing ANC background noise on your soundcore Space 2.
-
Our team will push the targeted firmware update to your device.
Notes
-
In very quiet environments, ANC is designed to maintain a low-level ambient sound rather than complete silence — a small amount of residual noise is normal and expected.
-
ANC works best with steady, low-frequency sounds like engine hum or air conditioning. It is intended to reduce, not completely block out, surrounding noise.
-
In vehicles, slight shifts in perceived noise level are normal — ANC continuously adapts to changes in road and engine noise.
-
The microphones on both sides of the headphones play an important role in how ANC and Transparency mode work. If you accidentally cover them, the mode may not perform as expected or you may notice a brief sound. Simply move your hand away and it should return to normal.
