The Path Tracking Sensor on the bottom of the G30, G40, and G+ series is an Optical Flow Sensor. It works along with the Gyroscope to help the RoboVac navigate better (related article: What is Dynamic Navigation? ).
It senses the ground at a high frequency for analysis. The sensory data is input into a digital signal processor to compare the front and back images, accurately calculating the robot’s direction and displacement. Even in a complex home environment, the robot can determine its position on the map and identify areas that have already been cleaned, reducing redundancy.
Note: Currently only G30, G30 Edge, G30 Verge, G30 Hybrid, G32 Pro, G40, G40 Hybrid, G35+, G40+, and G40 Hybrid+ have the Path Tracking Sensor on their bottom.
