It is highly recommended to use the Quick Mapping feature to create a complete cleaning map of your house before the first cleaning cycle. The robot vacuum will spend a few minutes exploring your entire home and creating a map. During the mapping process, the robot vacuum will not clean the floor.
Quick Mapping: The robot vacuum quickly navigates around the house to explore and create a cleaning map without running the suction fan motor. The path of the robot vacuum is random and does not follow a regular pattern along walls or in a zigzag shape. The robot vacuum will generally take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete the quick mapping process for a house that is 1,000 sqft.
To build a map for the first time:
- Activate the robot vacuum while it is on the Self-Empty Station/Charging Base;
- Open the doors of all the rooms that you want the robot vacuum to clean;
- Remove objects (like wires, toys, etc.) on the floor that may trap/entangle the robot vacuum;
- Do not manually move the robot vacuum during the quick mapping process;
- Allow the robot vacuum to return to the Self-Empty Station/Charging Base automatically.
After the robot successfully completes its initial quick mapping process, you will be able to view a colored map and a detailed control interface. The following image is an example of this interface on the eufy Clean app:
If your X8 Pro Series failed to save a map after completing a full cleaning cycle, please refer to the following steps for troubleshooting:
- If your house has multiple floors, please ensure you have enabled the "Multi-Map Saving" feature (Does the X8 Pro Series Support Multi Floors? Can the X8 Pro Series Save Multiple Maps?). Please note that this feature is disabled by default.
- The X8 Pro Series can save up to five valid maps when the "Multi-Map Saving" switch is turned on, which are saved both locally on the robot and on eufy cloud. If the total number of maps exceeds five maps, the eufy Clean app will provide you with the option of either replacing the previous map or not saving the current map.
- Check if the position of either the robot or the Self-Empty Station/Charging Base has been adjusted or the surroundings have been changed. Please note that your robot will try to reposition and remap to match its current surroundings.
- Place the robot back on the Self-Empty Station/Charging Base and start a new cleaning session.
- Please note that manually moving the robot may cause the map to be lost. Do not move the robot while it is cleaning.
